Guard/Post, and Scoring/Shooting Camp
Attention Parents, Players and Coaches,
Beginning the first week of October, the Hoop School will be conducting six weeks of intensive basketball skills and drills at several locations throughout Massachusetts. Please find the details of those events below. All sessions will feature a highly experienced staff of high school coaches, former college players and/or former college coaches, low instructor to player ratio to maximize teaching (last year 8:1) and a conducive learning environment (girls-only) for fostering instruction and learning. This will provide you (or your daughter) with the opportunity to prepare for their upcoming travel or high school tryouts not to mention the ability to compete during the season. I am quite certain you have worked extremely hard throughout the summer to raise your skill level whether it be through AAU or camps, this clinic will not only assist in maintaining your current skill level but improve weaknesses, further strengths and raise your overall level of play.
The clinics will be held on Sunday’s so it will not conflict with the fall sport season (if there are conflicts at the high school level with a session or two because of AAU, please let me know and we can work something out) Enrollment size will be limited to maximize teaching. Grades - 5th through 12th - are welcome. We realize some fall schedules are still not available yet but please email me to reserve a spot as soon as possible - last year’s sessions sold out extremely quickly.
Philosophy
The clinics are designed to further individual player development by stressing fundamentals through drill work and provide a training ground, for girls to improve their skill level and conceptual basketball knowledge. The program is structured to work a separate skill set each session i.e. ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting, defense and transition concepts and builds up into combination type drills that will work various skills simultaneously. For the younger girls, a core foundation will be provided to help them have success and fun with basketball as they grow with the sport. For older/high school girls, the clinic will seek to improve the skills level as well as bring their game to the next level to prepare them to compete at the highest chosen level.
All Session Features:
· Week 1 - Ball handling and Passing session (including getting to the basketball, weak hand development and creating offense)
· Week 2 - Footwork, Getting open, and Shooting (pivoting, proper shooting footwork, defensive, drop steps, getting to the basket and using screens)
· Week 3 - Shooting continued (including form, catch & shoot, shooting off the dribble and finishing)
· Week 4 - Defensive Principles (on ball, helping, helping the helper concepts and defending screens)
· Week 5 - Defensive Principles continued
· Week 6 - Transition and fast break concepts

Feedback from the last fall’s clinic held in Watertown:
“My daughter loved it. She practices things she learned at home. She specifically liked the number of coaches, that there were women instructors, that there was a lot of action and not a lot of talking by the coaches, and that it was all girls in a fairly small age range. I’d sign her up for anything you ran, if it worked with her schedule.” -Name omitted
“I think your clinic was great! I observed one week - You (and the other coaches) made it fun but you really worked the girls each week and I liked how you worked on a separate skill each week. I liked how the coaches went around to each girl individually to make sure their form was correct, etc.” -Name omitted
